Before heading out on your next RV adventure, take a few minutes to read these tips and check the supplies in your RVs to make sure you have all the essentials needed for a smooth and successful trip.

RV Tips:

  • Use Solar Lights for Your Steps: Using solar lights around your steps is easy and provides enough light for you to see, without having so much light that it disturbs your neighbors.
  • Check Your Brakes before Your Trip: Most of us check our lights before heading out but it’s also a good idea to check the brake controllers too. You want to make certain the brakes are working properly so there aren’t any surprises!
  • Sanitize Your RV Water System: Stagnant water in the system is common and can be easily detected. You can use sanitizing products to maintain freshness in your water supply, and in most cases, no drainage is required. For liquid sanitizers, add a measured amount indicted by the instructions or use quick-dissolving sanitizing tabs that don’t require measuring.
  • Avoid Mold and Mildew: If your RV has been in long-term storage without a good airing out every now and then, there’s a good chance there’s some mold and mildew build-up. Check in places such as sinks, showers, toilets, vents, and storage compartments. If mold or mildew is present, use appropriate store-bought cleaners or make a solution at home with tea tree oil diluted in water. If there’s any leaks or damaged caulking, you’ll want to repair these items before setting off.
